Our ambassadors on top at Ironman 70.3 Lanzarote 2014

Will Clarke and Helle Frederiksen are winners of the third edition of the Ironman 70.3 Lanzarote.

Exciting. A few weeks ago those who qualified for Ironman 70.3 Lanzarote 2014 were imagining what to expect on September 20th. Expectations were matched perfectly.
At this point in the season, with the World Championship Hawaii just around the corner, professional triathletes came to Lanzarote to give their best, to measure their strength without questioning the limits and of course to win. In a quite close race, the top three positions were changing at every turn, making us on edge until the last second.

A day completely clear with radiant sun and absence of wind made the test elapse at a quick speed. As fast as the competition was happening, the head of the race was changing. We were all holding our breath not knowing a clear winner until the last second.

Finally it was three of our ambassadors at Sands Beach Active who managed to conquer the three positions of the podium. It was Will Clarke of Uplace-BMC Pro Triathlete Team who crossed the finish line in first position with a record beating time of 04:04:16. Not soon after, Víctor Del Corral, winner of the past edition, came in second achieving a time of 04:04:22. Finally the French Romain Guillaume (Uplace – BMC Pro Triathlete Team), winner of Ironman Lanzarote 2014, who had led the competition during the cycling sector, finished in third position ending in a time of 04:06:53. Axel Zeebroek also managed to fill a vacancy in the top 10 finalists having ended in 04:13:06.

For women’s representation, our Ambassador Helle Frederiksen led the competition from the beginning having a clear advantage against her rivals. She was finally able to cross the finish line to claim victory at 04:29:58. The women podium was completed by Lucy Gossage (04:50:04), winner of the Ironman Lanzarote 2014 and Nicole Woysch (05:03:28).

Sands Beach Active feel proud of the good results obtained by our ambassadors. Good job guys and congratulations!
