One of the most well known triathlon races took part this morning in lanzarote. The race began early in the morning at 8:00am, where the professionals and the masses set off swimming after the para-triathletes in La Santa.
After the swim, the athletes entered transition to collect their bikes and began the 90km ride which included the long climb up Tabayasco. Victor Corral was the first to arrive back at La Santa before beginning the run leg.
With a small margin to second place, Sands Beach ambassador kept the lead with strong running. He was the eventual men’s winner in just four hours and six minutes. Will Clarke of Great Britain arrive in second just four minutes later, then Domencio (Italy) took third spot in four hours and twelve minutes.
The women’s race was taken by Agnieszka Jerzyk in four hours and thirty nine minutes. Second place went to Damne Boterbroad just 60 seconds later, and the third position went to Susie Hignett from Great Britain.
